  The meeting

On July 12th, the APWF and World Water Council (WWC) held a joint anniversary celebration at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center.

The APWF, for which the Japan Water Forum (JWF) has served as secretariat, has achieved its 10th anniversary from the establishment. At the same time the WWC, in which the JWF is involved as a Board member, has reached the 20th anniversary of its foundation. Therefore, we held an joint event to commemorate both their own engagement and their common partnership for the inclusion of the voice of Asia in the World Water Forum.

During the event, Dr.Tom Soo, Executive Director of the WWC served as a moderator. Mr. Ravi Narayanan, Chair of the APWF’s Governing Council; Dr. Kotaro Takemura, Secretary General of the JWF; Mr. Chua Soon Guan, Deputy Chief Executive (Policy and Development) of PUB; Dr. Benedito Braga, President of WWC delivered their remarks. In addition, Prof Tommy Koh, first Governing Chair of the APWF, current Ambassador-at-Large for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore and Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, first President of the WWC, Former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt, and current president of the Arab Water Council those who had contributed to the development of the APWF and WWC, respectively, also deliver their remarks and honored for each contribution and achievement. The anniversary event was followed by a toast and commemorative photos and video. The participants reaffirmed the need for further strengthening of partnerships to promote water security in the Asia – Pacific region and the world.
