Overview
Making integrated water resource management (IWRM) operational depends on translating principles for IWRM into practical processes for managing change. Using a framework for operationalizing IWRM, based on combining principles for both IWRM and change management, this webinar will showcase lessons from research and practice for strengthening water security. Increasingly, however, more is required today from IWRM. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals, there is growing recognition that responses to major challenges – globally and in Asia-Pacific – should align around systemic solutions with benefits across multiple sectors and needs. Water connects across systems and water management, as a consequence, has a critical role to play in enabling and strengthening such systemic solutions. The webinar will therefore conclude with recommendations for how improving the effectiveness of IWRM can contribute to critical priorities such as food systems transformation, climate change resilience and advancing economic inclusion and gender equality.
